What a macho combo! For Jeep enthusiasts who want both a pickup and diesel power, the Gladiator concept trotted out by the Chrysler Group looks like it has the stuff to take on the toughest trails. It's powered by a 2.8L, four-cylinder common-rail turbodiesel engine that provides 295 lb-ft of torque and 163 hp, all flowing through a six-speed manual transmission and a traditional part-time transfer case. This lifestyle pickup has all of the rugged functionality of the iconic Jeep Wrangler, and it's also a super utility truck that features an open-air canvas roof, removable doors, and fold-down windshield. Other features include an expandable truck bed with clever storage compartments. Let's hope Chrysler lets this brawny Gladiator join the battle.
