What do you call a drag race where drivers come from around the country to compete against the biggest names in diesel, for no points, with few rules, some big cash payouts, and all the bragging rights in the world? Call it the TS Performance Outlaw Diesel Drags, and if you weren't there, you should have been.
Dreamt up by Dennis and Sheila Perry and run by the staff of TS Performance in Bowling Green, Kentucky, the inaugural Outlaw race was a huge success. It began with an open house at TS Performance's world headquarters, where guests were treated to food, music, and coverage on radio and TV. And that was just the first day. Diesel Power was on hand for the drag racing, dyno testing, and rumors that some old records would be broken.
We had been reading for weeks on the Internet about who was coming and what they were bringing. Most of the heavy hitters were scheduled to show up, and without the limitations (rules) we knew we'd see some impressive performances. Either that, or there would be a lot of stuff blowing up! At any rate, we figured we had to be there. Our only complaint is that it happens only once a year. There's no official word about when they'll hold an event next year, but if you're interested in being part of something like this, give TS Performance a call or check out their Web site at www.tsperformance.com.
